Members of the Board of Directors are elected by the membership. Members are invited to serve on committees of the board, under the leadership of a Board member who serves as chair.

We work hard and we enjoy getting out on the Preserves when the opportunity arises, including eating our lunch together under the shelter of trees.

If you have time to give and a skill to contribute (finances, development, communications, program planning, photography, membership development, for example), we would love to have you join us.

Committees

All members of the Friends of Plant Conservation are invited and encouraged to join a committee.  The board appreciates members' participation at whatever level they have time to commit. 

• Awards (Chair- Carrie DeJaco) nominates award winners and present awards.
• Communications and Publicity (Chair- Carol Staton) produces publicity including the Newsletter, website, social media, press releases, brochures, etc.
• Development & Fundraising (Chairs- Chris Bolling & Milo Pyne) guides the organization in securing funding from outside sources; identifies and communicates with potential donors to support the work of the organization. Identify grant opportunities and assist with / coordinate grant writing.
• Finance (Chair- Johnny Wilson) reviews the prior year budget and reports and prepares a budget to submit to the Board; ensures that donors’ wishes are carried out and that Funds and investments are managed responsibly.
• Financial Review (Chair- Mike Baransky) annually reviews the financial records of the Friends and recommends when a full review by an independent auditor is needed.
• Membership (Chair- Matt Estep) maintains membership records; promotes membership recruitment and retention.
• Nominations (Chair- TBD) identifies potential candidates for the 2022 Board.
• Program and Engagement (Chair- Aria Searles) conducts events that are open to the public in order to generate interest in membership; plan and conduct the Annual meeting.
• Project Management (Chair- Alvin Braswell) administers grants and manages facilities at preserves.
